Gottfried E. Noether Awards

The Noether Awards were established in 1999. As a tribute to Professor Gottfried Emanuel Noether who died on August 22, 1991 in Windham, Connecticut, his wife, Dr. Emiliana Noether and daughter, Dr. Monica Noether, presented the American Statistical Association (ASA) with an Endowment Fund to recognize distinguished researchers and teachers and to support research in the field of nonparametric statistics.

Statistics in Chemistry Award

This award recognizes outstanding collaborative efforts between statisticians and chemists. While this is a Section award, in 1995, the Board of Directors grandfathered this award for presentation at the ASA Presidential Address Session.

Outstanding Statistical Application Award

Each year, the ASA recognizes a paper which is an outstanding application of statistics in the physical, biological, or medical sciences.

A permanent scholarship fund, The Edward C. Bryant Scholarship Trust Fund, has been funded by Westat to honor its co-founder and long-time leader. The award will honor an outstanding graduate student who is studying survey statistics.

SPAIG Award

The American Statistical Association, through the Statistical Partnerships Among Academe, Industry and Government, established the SPAIG award in 2002 to recognize outstanding partnerships established between academe and business, industry, and government organizations and to promote new partnerships.
