Waller Education Award

The Award

The award receives a certificate and a $1,000 check.

Qualifications

Nominees should be early in their career, with ten or fewer years of full-time teaching and responsibility for teaching the first course in statistics in a two or four year college, or research university. Graduate teaching assistants are eligible for nomination. The recipient will be selected according to the following criteria:

• Commitment to teaching elementary statistics
• Demonstrated innovation in teaching elementary statistics
• Letters of support from students, colleagues, and supervisors

Nomination and Award Dates

Nominations are due by March 15. The award is presented at the Joint Statistical Meetings in August of the same year.

Responsibilities of the Award Recipient

The award recipient will be responsible for providing a current photograph and general personal information the year the award is presented. The American Statistical Association uses this information to publicize the award and prepare the prize.

How to Submit a Nomination

Nominations should be submitted as a complete packet, consisting of:

• A nomination letter addressing points in the selection criteria. The maximum length of a nomination letter is four pages.
• The nominee's curriculum vitae
• A maximum of four support letters, each no longer than two pages
