The Austin Chapter of the American Statistical Association is excited to announce its November meeting presentation by Dr. Paul Tobias, "Roadmap and Tools for Assessing Reliability: Reliability tools in the NIST online handbook." This meeting will be held on Thursday, November 13th :

  • 5:30 - 6:30 pm - Networking Hour (with substantial finger food)
  • 6:30 - 6:45 pm - Announcements
  • 6:45 - 7:30 pm - "Roadmap and Tools for Assessing Reliability"
  • 7:30 - 7:45 pm - Door Prize Drawing

The meeting will be held at the City of Austin Department of Small and Minority Business Resources (DSMBR), 4100 Ed Bluestein Blvd. at Technicenter Drive, across Ed Bluestein from Motorola, and across Technicenter Drive from the Shell station (map at http://www.asqaustin.org/meeting_schedule.htm ). This event is a joint meeting with the Austin Chapter of the American Society for Quality.

This talk will describe the use of the NIST/Sematech Engineering Statistics Handbook for Quality and Reliability applications, available on the Internet and FREE to any organization or individual who wants to download it or use it

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Paul Tobias taught numerous courses in Reliability, Life Testing, and Statistical Quality Control during his twenty-five years at IBM, and later directed the Statistical Methods Group at Sematech. While at Sematech he was involved with the NIST/Sematech Engineering Statistics Handbook. He is preparing the third edition of his popular book _Applied Reliability_, co-authored with David Trindade. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics.
