"Information Theoretic Approaches to Probability and Statistics: A Unifying Philosophical Approach" by Pat Brockett and Statistics Roundtable Open Discussion This talk will consider the origins of probability theory and its philosophical underpinnings. Pat will discuss how information theory provides a unifying approach which is consistent with the historical development of probability, as well as providing a connection between Bayesian and Frequentist Methods. Information Theoretic interpretation of several common statistical methods will be presented to illustrate this approach.
