"Information Theoretic Approaches to Probability and Statistics: A Unifying Philosophical Approach"
and Statistics Roundtable Open Discussion
This talk will consider the origins of probability theory and its philosophical underpinnings. Pat will discuss how information theory provides a unifying approach which is consistent with the historical development of probability, as well as providing a connection between Bayesian and Frequentist Methods. Information Theoretic interpretation of several common statistical methods will be presented to illustrate this approach.
