On July 21, 2002, the ASA Detroit Chapter held its first picnic/social meeting at the Beverly Hills Park Pavilion. Each board member was asked to bring a dish to pass. Our spread included pasta and green salads, vegetable and fruit plates, barbecued vegetarian and chicken kabobs, chips, cake and cookies, and lemonade or pop. Needless to say, those who attended brought more than one dish each. As we were enjoying the delicious food and great company, it started to pour. We openly thanked Lance, our Chapter Representative, for reserving the pavilion for our function when we had to move our picnic table to the center to avoid getting wet. Due to the inclement weather and other commitments, we ended the picnic early without playing any of the board or lawn games that some of us had brought along.
A good time was had by all!
