**********January Meeting*****************
Announcing "Micro-JSM" meeting in Lecture Hall 3.102A at the Medical School
of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA),
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Thursday January 22, 2004.
One of the purposes of this meeting is to encourage our members to
participate in the August 8-12, 2004 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in
Toronto. The deadline for submitting abstracts for that meeting is Feb 1,
2004. More info is available at

Another purpose is to encourage those who have presented abstracts to
develop their presentations into manuscripts. So far we have scheduled:
- Dr. Anuradha Roy, from UTSA, to present her 2003 oral abstract
entitled "Classification Rules for Repeated Measures"
- Dr. Joe Lucke, from UTHSCSA, to present his oral JSM 2003 abstract "The
Relationship between Reliability and Internal Consistency Under Correlated
Item Error"
- Dr. Jerry Keating, from UTSA, to give his oral presentation from
2003 JSM in San Francisco entitled "Ranking College Football Teams"
- Mr. Ken Williams, from UTHSCSA, to get feedback on a poster
presentation he plans to submit for the 2004 JSM entitled "Score Sheet
Models to Assess the Risk of Developing Diabetes" during refreshments to be
provided after the oral presentations. Ken will also be open to any program
ideas you may have for the remainder of the current chapter officers' term
(until July)
If you are interested in presenting an abstract in any category (i.e. either
a post hoc JSM 2003 or a priori JSM 2004 oral or poster presentation) you
are pre-approved. Please contact Ken Williams (williamsk@uthscsa.edu , work:
567-6715, home: 682-0112) by Thursday, January 14 if possible.

useful detail. Visitor parking is available at $0.50 per hour. The meeting
will be held in lecture hall 3.102A in the Medical School Building (enter on
the North side of the Library, turn to the right & lecture hall 3.102A is
the 1st room on the left).
The meeting is open to everyone; non-members will be given an opportunity to
join the San Antonio ASA chapter. We hope to see you and any of your
statistically oriented colleagues there!
