Geostatistical Models and Maps Using an Rcmdr Plugin Package (302735)*Erin M. Hodgess, University of Houston - Downtown
Keywords: R, GIS, Rcmdr, plugins, maps
The R commander package (Fox 2005) is a menu driven system for R. Plugins can be produced with special menus for specific purposes. We have developed a plugin package for the R commander (Rcmdr.gstats) which lets the user construct and evaluate models for geostatistical data. The user will have several options to produce an effective model via different types of kriging, as found in the gstat(Pebesma, 2004) and spactime (Pebesma, 2012) packages. Both spatial and spatio-temporal data sets will be considered. Models will be compared using root mean square errors. For spatial data sets, maps will be produced for use on both Google Earth and Google Maps with the rgdal package (Bivand et al, 2013). Spatio-temporal maps will be produced for use in Google Earth from the plotKML package (Hengl, 2013). These maps can be accessed with Android tablets or iPads.
