Abstract:

In recent years, most MBA programs have tended to downsize their course offerings in statistics. Based on their own experiences in MBA teaching, the panelists will discuss ways to enhance the reputation and interest level for statistics as a discipline for these students. They will describe both first-course offerings and interesting followup courses in such areas as data mining, quality improvement, and statistical modeling. The discussion will then focus on the statistical needs of the modern business manager and the best ways meet these needs through increased statistical activity in MBA programs. The presentations grow out in part from discussions at past sessions of the annual conference on "Making Statistics More Effective in Schools and Business."
