Chair Workshops
Fifth Annual Workshop for Chairs of Programs in Statistics and Biostatistics
On Saturday, July 30 prior to JSM, the Caucus of Academic Reps will hold the fifth annual workshop for Chairs of Programs in Statistics and Biostatistics. This half-day workshop is designed to provide information and discussion for leaders of statistics and biostatistics groups and departments. In particular, it will try to stimulate discussion between new and experienced chairs on a range of topics from the scientific diversification of our field and its implications for hiring, education, and departmental organization to better attracting talented students to our discipline. The Workshop will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. There will also be an informal morning meeting for new department chairs/heads.
In order to keep registration fees reasonable, the Caucus is providing partial support for this Workshop. There will be a registration fee of $130 per participant to partially cover the cost of the workshop. (This is in addition to and separate from JSM registration). Registration includes lunch and dinner on the day of the Workshop. Hotels should be booked through the JSM meeting site. Registration for the workshop is available online at the link below, together with an agenda. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
