The Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics was founded in 1992 as a joint venture of the ASA, Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and Interface Foundation of North America with the purpose of improving and extending the use of computational and graphical methods in statistics and data analysis. The journal contains cutting-edge research, data, and surveys in numerical graphical displays and methods. Materials are written for readers who have a strong background in statistics, but are not necessarily experts in computing. JCGS shows clearly that the practice of statistics has been profoundly changed by computer technology-and equally evident is the fact that this is only the beginning.
