Joint Statistical Meetings 2011

We are pleased to announce that this year the Section of Statistical Consulting is sponsoring 6 Invited Papers and Panel, 9 Contributed Papers and Panels, 5 Roundtables and 1 Oral Poster Session. The schedule can be found here on this page (current as of 5/24/11). Please join us for these events and give us your feedback.

The committee needs to submit names of nominees for the following section officers by mid September:

Chair-Elect
Three-year term from 2013-2015 serving successive one-year terms as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past Chair
Publications Officer
Two-year term from 2013-2014 replacing Jennifer Schumi
Representative to the Council of Sections
Three-year term from 2013-2015 replacing Raymond Hoffmann
At-large member of the Executive Committee
Two-year term from 2013-2015 replacing Clinton Brownley

The Statistical Consultant

The Statistical Consultant is published three times a year (assuming no disasters happen.)
The deadlines for each copy are normally:

Spring:February 1
Summer: May 1
Winter: October 1
We welcome articles about consulting or about topics relevant to consultants. Many of our members work in relative isolation, dealing not only with problems in applied statistics and their clients' research, but also the problems of running a small business, maintaining professional and technical skills, and networking with individuals with similar problems or solutions thereto.

Past issues have included topics such as:

  • Consulting in a CRO
  • Setting up a consulting company
  • How to keep up with new methods
  • Biostatistical consulting course description
  • Survey of the section membership
