Roundtable Conference Call
Minutes from the last Roundtable are here.
The purpose of the series is to provide opportunities to discuss, with an expert, matters of interest to our section members.
The March Roundtable was very successful. We finally have the slides and minutes posted for your own personal use only.
Because of tremendous interest in the past the number of participants is now up to 20. We will have a waiting list. Those members who have tried to sign up and were put on the waiting list were given higher priority for this call. People who are not members of the Statistical Consulting Section were given the lowest priority.
The goal for the series is to have a mix of discussion leaders; some who are established consultants and know a lot about running such a business and some who are content experts in areas on which current statistical consultants would like more information. If you have suggestions, then please let us know.
Please note that these discussions are limited to one hour. Because of the tremendous interest, we have increased the number of participants to 20 people. Because of the increase we ask you to respect the size of the group and try not to interrupt others or monopolize the conversation. Also note that we have promised the invited speakers that the roundtable is not an invitation for people to call them up afterwards and continue the dialogue.
When you sign up you will be asked to specify your preference in the discussion: active participant, listener, or either. Note that, if you sign up as a listener, please do not feel like you must remain quiet if an appropriate time to say something arises. At the same time, if you are signed up as a listener, then please respect the active participation rights of those that signed up that way and allow them to say what they need to say first.
The categorization is to help with facilitating a large number of attendees. 20 active participants is different from 10 active participants and 10 listeners. Unfortunately, the cost of a listener is the same as the cost of an active participant. We are looking into ways to make the calls open to more people. We'll let you know if it comes to anything.
Cost: No cost to section members, who also get priority. For later Conference Calls, those who have not yet participated will get priority over those that have. Those who sign up, but don't show up, will get lowest priority for future Calls. We will keep a waiting list and if anyone cancels those on the waiting list will be notified.
