The Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education offers a monthly series of half-hour webinars (seminars on the web) hosted by Jackie Miller from Ohio State University. CAUSE webinars are free, but participants must pre-register at http://www.CAUSEweb.org/webinar/. You can also view and listen to past webinars at this website. Here is a synopsis of upcoming events in the series (all times are Eastern time zone):
- March 11 (1 p.m.) Deb Nolan, University of California at Berkeley, on computing in the statistics curriculum
- April 8 (2:30 p.m.) Allan Rossman and Beth Chance, California Polytechnic State University, on teaching the calculus-based introductory statistics course
- May 13 (2:00 p.m.) Joy Jordan, Lawrence University, on writing in the introductory statistics course
- June 10 (3 p.m.) Bob delMas, University of Minnesota, and Marsha Lovett, Carnegie Mellon University, on the lessons of cognitive psychology for statistics education
- July 8 (2 p.m.) Shonda Kuiper, Grinnell College, on interdisciplinary research projects in a first or second statistics course
- September 9 (2 p.m.) Joan Garfield and Michelle Everson, University of Minnesota, on developing and teaching a course to prepare teachers of statistics
- October 14 (2 p.m.) Danny Kaplan, Macalester College, on teaching statistical inference via simulation using R
