Pat Doyle AwardTaken from Robert Lussier, GSS Publications Officer's October, 2005 GSS/SSS Newsletter Article The Executive Committee of the Government Statistics Section (GSS) has recently created the Pat Doyle Award for service to the GSS as a tribute to Pat’s dedication to the statistical field and the GSS during her lifetime. Pat died slightly more than a year ago and left her imprints on an astonishingly wide range of projects and activities in the US federal statistical community. A panel made up of Chet Bowie, 2005 GSS chair, Nat Schenker, past 2005 GSS chair, and Stephanie Shipp, 2006 GSS chair, selected Clyde Tucker as the first recipient of the award. Clyde, who works at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is the chair of the GSS ASA Fellows Committee and has served on the GSS Executive Committee over the years in various capacities. A plaque was given to Clyde during the 2005 GSS annual business meeting at the 2005 JSM in Minneapolis. In his acceptance remarks, Clyde underlined the fact that he felt much honored to receive this award because of his long association with Pat and was very appreciative of her hard work for GSS, her dedication to ASA, and her willingness to share her insights.
