Rob Easterling, SRC Management Committee Chair
Joint Research Conference 2000, on Statistics in Quality, Industry, and Technology is nigh upon us -- June 26-28 on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle. Avoid the rush; register now! Program, short-course, and registration information is available at the conference website: http://www.boeing.com/special/jrc2000/. This conference is a one-year merger of the Spring Research Conference on Statistics in Industry and Technology and the Quality and Productivity Research Conference, so participants can enjoy a broader program than the individual conferences might generally provide. Andrew Booker and Rita Lai have put together an outstanding program and schedule of other conference activities and we hope for a large SPES turn-out in the Great Northwest. Maybe Bill Gates will be there, too.
To plan ahead, SRC01 will be held June 18-20, 2001, at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, VA, hosted by the Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech. Program suggestions can be sent to Program Chair Max Morris, Iowa State University, or Rob Easterling, Chair of the SRC Management Committee.
Both of these conferences provide excellent opportunities and a collegial atmosphere for the dissemination and generation of statistical research geared to solving important problems in industry and technology. Conference organizers appreciate the ongoing support by SPES through the provision of student scholarships and the enthusiastic participation of many SPES members and look forward to continued conference success.
