Accreditation testifies that there is a body of knowledge known as statistics acquired through formal education, work experience, and ongoing professional development. Offered as both full PStat® accreditation and entry-level GStat accreditation, it provides a measure of assurance to employers, contractors, and collaborators.
The ASA’s extensive awards program recognizes statisticians who have made outstanding contributions through research, teaching, consulting, and service to the association and statistical profession. Likewise, ASA scholarships provide support for students studying statistics and related subjects.
The American Statistical Association offers Data Science Professional (DSP) and Advanced Data Science Professional (AdvDSP) statuses that provide recognition by peers that the holders have appropriate training and knowledge, including—but not limited to—the management, protection, engineering, stewardship, and analysis of data and the ethics of conducting those activities. Holders of the DSP or AdvDSP credential have voluntarily applied for this status and submitted materials that have been carefully reviewed by peers and were found to be deserving of the credential. Holders must periodically undergo further review to maintain this status.
Professional Development is a fundamental component of the professional life of statisticians, increasing the value of their contributions to society. To meet your Professional Development needs, the ASA offers Continuing Education and Personal Skills Development courses and workshops and web-based lectures.
