The American Statistical Association is dedicated to and involved in enhancing the preparation of statisticians for success, including providing resources for statistics students. Here, you will find student and early career resources, including information about websites; student membership; publications; communities; programs in statistics, biostatistics, and data science; internships and fellowships; and student awards and competitions.

STATtr@k is geared toward individuals who are in a statistics program, recently graduated from a statistics program, or recently entered the job world. The site provides links to and information about career and mentorship sites, upcoming conferences, and awards and competitions.

The JSM Career Service is a full-service recruiting facility available every year at the Joint Statistical Meetings.

Every December, the ASA posts a list of internship opportunities for students and posts additional listings as received.

Fellowships for graduate students.
ASA DataFest is an annual 48-hour competition in which teams of undergraduate students work to reveal insights into a rich and complex data set.

The Undergraduate Statistics Project Competition (USPROC) encourages the development of data analysis skills, enhances presentation skills, and recognizes outstanding work by undergraduate statistics students.

The ASA’s awards program recognizes student’s contributions to statistics and offers paper competitions, travel awards, grants, and scholarships.
ASA student chapters provide opportunities for students to connect with other students interested in statistics and interact with prominent statisticians locally and at national meetings. There are no scholastic requirements, and students need not be statistics majors. All students are welcome and encouraged to get involved.

The *Young Professionals Group within the ASA Community is a place for students to post questions, start discussions, and network with like-minded individuals.

Student Membership
ASA student membership includes subscriptions to Amstat News and Significance magazines and online subscriptions to CHANCE, the ASA’s premier journals, and ASA Members News. Online access to and networking within the ASA Community and information about internships, resources, and career opportunities is also provided.
