Memorial Scholarship
About the Award
Elizabeth J. Kelly and Robert D. Ryne established the Dorothy Marie Lamb and Annette Lila Ryne Memorial Scholarship in 2022 to honor their mothers for their unwavering love and steadfast support.
The scholarship, in the amount of $2,000, will be given annually to a woman student who is enrolled in or plans to enroll in a mathematics and/or statistics and/or data science program that incorporates statistics. It can be used to pay for any costs
related to the recipient’s education (e.g., books, tuition, and housing).
Selection Criteria
- Woman
- GPA of at least 3.5, but exceptions can be made at the discretion of the committee
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills that would suggest the student has the potential to bring analytical thinking to problems that involve collaborative efforts where good communication skills are critical
- Financial need as demonstrated by qualifying for need-based financial aid at the student’s university or college
Note: Preference will be given to a candidate recommended by Girl’s Inc. of Santa Fe or STEM Santa Fe.
Nominations
Self-nominations and nominations are due June 30
Self-nominations require the following:
- Candidate's résumé or CV
- Personal statement that includes a description of how the funds will be used to support the candidate’s statistical education and their potential to bring analytical thinking to problems (1–2 pages)
- Proof of need-based financial aid
- Optional letter of support (1 page)
- Headshot
Nominations require the following:
- Nomination letter (1 page)
- Candidate’s résumé or CV
- Personal statement that includes a description of how the funds will be used to support the candidate’s statistical education and their potential to bring analytical thinking to problems (1–2 pages)
- Proof of need-based financial aid
- Headshot
