About the Award

Established in 2023 by members of the JASA Editorial Board and implemented by the JASA Associate Editors of Reproducibility, the JASA Reproducibility Award aims to recognize outstanding papers from JASA Applications and Case Studies or JASA Theory and Methods in terms of their computational reproducibility. This award will evaluate the code, data, and workflow to reproduce the work presented in the paper as part of all invited revisions to JASA.

Up to three papers are selected every year by the associate editors of reproducibility, and an award is presented to the authors during the annual Joint Statistical Meetings. Each award comes with a $500 honorarium.

Selection Criteria

All papers accepted into JASA by December 31 are eligible for the award in the following year.

Each associate editor of reproducibility can nominate at most three papers from the previous calendar year to be discussed as potential candidates for the award.

In the spring before JSM, the associate editors of reproducibility will establish criteria for comparing the nominated papers and each nominated paper will be rated by a randomly chosen subset of the associate editors of reproducibility.

The associate editors of reproducibility will determine the winners by consensus after discussing the top-rated papers. Editors will notify the winners by May of the year following the selection year. The honorarium can be split however the authors of the paper choose. Papers from current associate editors of reproducibility are not eligible to receive the award.

Award Recipient Responsibilities

The award recipient(s) are responsible for providing a current photograph and general information, along with permission to reprint the work in ASA promotional materials.
